WRHL-World Roller Hockey League
In 1992, DME became the first outside production company to partner with ESPN when they launched the World Roller Hockey League (WRHL). Teaming with ESPN’s then-president Steve Bornstein, the first professional roller hockey organization was staged at Walt Disney World’s MGM Studios Theme Park. Following the league’s first televised season, ESPN and DME merged the WRHL with a second upstart league to form Roller Hockey International (RHI), which became the format for numerous ESPN backed ventures. DME was instrumental in introducing Pepsi and Taco Bell to the niche professional sports marketplace through a league-wide million dollar sponsorship.
